Salons & lectures
Ideas worth wrestling with, invited speakers, thoughtful disagreement, and conversations that continue well past the formal program.
Hikes, salons, campfires, dinners, expeditions, and—someday—a clubhouse of our own. Because curiosity shouldn't be a solitary hobby.
There's nothing wrong with wanting a club because it's a wonderful place to spend time.
We want the kind of place where a historian, a welder, a biologist, and a former line cook can have a marvelous evening together—where the point is neither networking nor performing intelligence.
Bring something interesting to the conversation. Stay curious about everyone else's thing. And yes, at some point somebody should buy another round.
The Meridian philosophy ↗We're beginning with the idea of regular, affordable gatherings and expeditions. These are proposed experiences—not scheduled events or benefits you can purchase yet.
Ideas worth wrestling with, invited speakers, thoughtful disagreement, and conversations that continue well past the formal program.
From weekend mountain hikes to historical field investigations and nights under a ridiculous number of New Mexico stars.
Good cooking, historical banquets, deliberately overambitious menus, and the sort of long dinner that creates new friendships.
Build a circuit, learn a technique, prototype an idea, run a private AI model, or spend an afternoon making something work.
EVENTUALLY, A PERMANENT HOME
Somewhere you can learn something at three, make something at five, and argue about it over a drink at seven.
We envision a clubhouse with a library, salon rooms, fabrication equipment, accessible computational resources, and a hospitality operation that gives everyone a reason to stay.
The society should exist before the building does. We'll let actual members and workable economics guide how far this goes.
A clubhouse, brewery, distillery, makerspace, laboratory and paid membership are future concepts. None currently operates under Meridian.
Follow the clubhouse plans ↗We aren't selling a membership yet. We're finding the people who would actually want to show up for a talk, go camping, help build a research project, and stick around afterward.
